Research In Motion (RIM) yesterday unveiled the BlackBerry Storm, its first touch-screen enabled smartphone.
A key highlight of the new phone is its “clickable” touch screen which depresses slightly when pressed allowing users to feel their typing and navigation.
The BlackBerry Storm comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, zoom and flash. Its media player screens movies in full-screen mode.
Users can also edit their Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files directly on the phone.
The phone offers 1GB of storage memory and a microSD/SDHC memory card slot that supports up to 16GB of additional storage per card. An 8GB microSDHC card is included in the bundle.
“With its unique clickable touch-screen, rich multimedia features, full HTML browser, satellite navigation capabilities, easy access to social networking and industry’s leading email and messaging capabilities, the Blackberry Storm is an ideal choice for both consumers and business customers who are looking for a powerful and fashionable smartphone,” said Gregory Wade, Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific, RIM.
The BlackBerry Storm was awarded the GSMA’s Best Mobile Technology Breakthrough award at Mobile World Congress earlier this year.
It will be available in Singapore from the end of April.
